Guide: costs

Depending on how you want to tailor your overseas language course, there will be different associated costs. This makes calculating the total cost of the course quite complicated. To help you, we have produced a breakdown of costs for the different options for each school (see the Prices & Reservations pages in the Languages & schools).

However, the easiest thing you can do is to get in touch with us, and we will provide the breakdown of costs for the course you have chosen, and do the calculating for you.

As a short guide, below is a breakdown of the costs involved with studying a language course overseas:

  • The course – The cost of either the Basic, Intensive or Superintensive course. Courses are charged per week; the higher the number of weeks you book, the lower the cost per week
  • Accommodation – Either staying in a family, student residence or shared apartment. Accommodation is charged per week. Some schools charge a one-off accommodation finding fee (check on the Prices & Reservations page for each school for more details)
  • Booking fee – There is a fixed one-off fee of 110 Euros per booking. This fee is the same no matter how many weeks you book
  • High season supplements – Some schools charge a small supplement during peak times in the summer. A few schools charge the supplement on the accommodation rather than the course, although most schools have no high season supplements at all (again, check on the Prices & Reservations page for each school for more details)
  • Individual lessons (optional) – You can book blocks of 5 individual lessons as an extra to the Basic/Intensive/Super-intensive courses
  • Transfer service to the airport to the accommodation (optional) – We can provide a transfer service via taxi from the airport to your accommodation to make the journey more comfortable
  • Travel insurance (optional) – We advise that students have some form of travel insurance when they study abroad. We offer two different insurance products although they are not compulsory. However, please note that some countries such as Australia and New Zealand have entry regulations which include compulsory insurance (check on the Prices & Reservations page for each school for more details or contact Linguapop for more information).
  • The flight (not included) – The flight is not included in the quote that Linguapop provide you. This is something you arrange yourself although Linguapop can advice you on the best flights for your journey. If you are travelling within Europe you may want to take advantage of low budget airlines to minimise flight costs, while if you are travelling across continents you usually get a cheaper flight if you book in advance.
  • Living expenses (not included) – You will need to spending money while you are studying, so you can buy meals (depending what accommodation options you choose) and make the most of the city you have decided to study in. Linguapop can advise you on how expensive each of the cities are and how much spending money you will need per week.
  • Visa (not included) – In some cases, depending on your nationality, your country of destination and course duration, you will need to apply for a visa for your trip and pay a visa processing fee and/or a fee for the acceptance letter that the school will have to issue. Usually these costs are not very high. In many cases there is no need to apply for a visa (e.g. EU nationals travelling within the EU) and for many destinations a tourist visa can be obtained on arrival at the airport. If you have any doubts then please contact Linguapop and we will let you know whether you need to apply for a visa and if so, how to apply for it.

You will see that Linguapop take care of all costs except the flight that will take you to the country/city of your choice and your living expenses for while you are there. However, if you need advice of what flight you need to catch, or how much money you will need for your living expenses, then we will be very happy to advise you.
